Major developments include: the use of matrix type analysis; the addition of roles (i.e. case relationships) to previously-delineated grammatical functions; sentence, paragraph and discourse levels; the interrelationship of grammar and lexicon. These essays apply the theory of tagmemics to all kinds of semantic problems, and illustrate how uses of the theory have been expanded by scholars, some in areas not strictly linguistic in nature.
