The retrospective exhibition – a tribute to the 50 years since the death of the artist – investigates, as the title suggests, the presence of the body in the work of Segall (b. Vilna, Lithuania 1891; immigrated Brazil, 1912; d. Brazil, 1957).Lasar Segall is considered one of the great interpreters of the 20th century. His work is seen as the testimony of the tragedies and changes of the last 100 years. The exhibition gathers 93 works, from paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures, dating from 1909, made in Germany, until the production of his last years of life in the house of Vila Mariana in Sao Paulo. The book with unpublished texts from Vera D’Horta, Max Perlingeiro and entrepreneur Celso Lafer, a specialist in Lasar Segall. The book also brings together more than 200 images from photographs, documents and works, a chronology and bibliographical references. An important reference on the artist.
